FourKites announced that United States Cold Storage (US Cold Storage) has implemented its AI-powered Digital Worker, Alan, to automate appointment scheduling operations. The company, which provides real-time supply chain visibility and AI-driven logistics solutions, developed Alan to reduce manual inefficiencies and improve scheduling accuracy across complex fleet operations.
During an eight-week pilot, US Cold Storage achieved an 87% success rate in booking appointments and 96% accuracy in securing requested delivery dates while processing over 600 shipments. The AI agent operates 24/7, managing more than 150 appointments simultaneously, delivering measurable productivity gains, and freeing employees to focus on customer service and strategic operations.
Unlike traditional robotic process automation tools that require scripted workflows, Alan adapts to dynamic scheduling conditions across email, web, and phone systems. The system integrates with FourKites’ real-time logistics network—processing more than 3.2 million supply chain events daily—to provide intelligent coordination, faster scheduling, and accurate recordkeeping.
US Cold Storage deployed Alan across four major retailers, where it demonstrated immediate efficiency improvements and consistency in appointment handling. The pilot was built on an established partnership between the two companies, expanding from shipment tracking to AI-powered automation across US Cold Storage’s 38 facilities nationwide.
“When we met with FourKites earlier this year in Chicago, we were very excited to hear the work they were doing with digital agents,” said Keith Mowery, EVP, logistics and West Region, US Cold Storage. “As soon as we heard about Alan, we knew there was an opportunity to work with FourKites and utilize Alan to really be more efficient and accurate in our scheduling process.”
