Polar King advances refrigeration expertise with EPA certification training

Participants completed a 100-question closed-book examination covering refrigerant handling, servicing procedures, environmental regulations, and industry-best practices.

Key takeaways

  • EPA Section 608 training helps refrigeration technicians maintain compliance and service standards.
  • Multiple Polar King employees earned advanced refrigerant certifications, including Universal status.
  • Ongoing technician training supports refrigeration equipment service and regulatory readiness.

Polar King International recently revealed that multiple employees from the company and Thermodyne Foodservice Products successfully completed EPA Section 608 refrigerant certification training.

The company, which produces walk-in refrigeration and freezer solutions, said the training strengthens technical capabilities and supports continued compliance with refrigeration service requirements and environmental regulations.

Four employees earned Universal Certification status, the highest credential available under EPA Section 608: Drew Fackler, Duane Keough, Donald Tippmann, and Michael Tippmann.

Additional employees completed various certification levels. Curtis Rayferd and Jerry Refeld passed the Core, Type I, and Type II certification sections. Kam Macon passed the Core and Type I sections, while Oscar Perez completed the Core section during his first certification attempt.

The certification process included classroom instruction focused on refrigerant handling, servicing procedures, environmental regulations, and industry-best practices, followed by a comprehensive examination covering Core, Type I, Type II, and Type III certification categories.

Polar King refrigeration systems primarily fall within the Type I and Type II categories, so the training program emphasized those service qualifications. Employees will have opportunities to participate in additional review sessions and retake certification sections as they continue advancing their credentials.

"Our goal is to ensure our technicians have the knowledge and credentials necessary to support our customers at the highest level," Gary Cooper, Polar King service manager, stated. "The dedication shown by these employees throughout the training process demonstrates their commitment to professional development and to providing exceptional service in the field for our customers.”
