A new monthly report detailing key trends affecting the intermodal industry has been launched by FTR Associates and Gross Transportation Consulting (GTC).

The Intermodal Monthly Update will track the most current industry data from a variety of sources organized in a useful way to answer questions and identify key trends affecting businesses with intermodal interests including:

  • Intermodal performance for key market segments including international, truckload, and LTL/parcel

  • Analysis of key region-to-region traffic flows

  • Equipment trends including trailer vs container, and equipment length

  • Intermodal market share vs highway

  • Port activity by region and selected transload trends

  • Import shipping patterns from key sourcing areas and how each port region's share is changing by source area

  • Future outlook for intermodal growth

The report's three-year forecast for North American intermodal revenue loading by equipment type will give subscribers a look “over the horizon” to help them plan for tomorrow. Forecasts are segmented by international equipment and domestic equipment with domestic showing splits for LTL/parcel/mail, truckload, container, and trailers.
