Choptank Transport, a full-service logistics provider based in Preston MD, has been awarded Best Broker of the Year–2011 by the National Association of Small Trucking Companies (NASTC) at the group’s annual conference in Nashville TN.

“Receiving this prestigious award from NASTC is an honor,” said Geoff Turner, president/chief executive officer of Choptank Transport, “and is a direct reflection of our talented staff working diligently with our excellent carriers to satisfy the needs of our customers.”

NASTC represents more than 2,700 trucking companies in the United States and Canada that employ 50,000-plus drivers collectively. Every year, NASTC publishes a Best Broker Directory to help its members stay loaded. Once a year, the group selects a Best Broker of the Year, which recognizes the top brokerage that exemplifies an ideal business partnership with its carriers.

This year’s conference was entitled “It’s all About the Driver.” Choptank Transport has established several programs over the years specifically with carriers in mind. These include fast payments with direct deposits, quick-pay options, COMDATA advances for fuel, and 24/7 access to the firm’s Carriernet load board where carriers can bid on, accept, or decline freight online.

David Owen, president of NASTC, said, “Choptank’s background has led to a unique understanding and appreciation of how small trucking operates. Their success and reputation is due to the positive relationships that have developed from that experience.”

An NASTC member since 2005, Choptank Transport specializes in truckload, refrigerated and frozen, van, flatbed, and less-than-truckload freight. It also offers intermodal capabilities and warehousing.
