Einride partners with Scan Sverige to reduce emissions in refrigerated freight

Einride recently partnered with Scan Sverige to electrify temperature-controlled freight operations in Sweden. The company, which develops electric and autonomous freight technology, will deploy electric heavy-duty trucks on a refrigerated transport route between Linköping and Eskilstuna.
The approximately 160-kilometer (about 99-mile) route is one of Scan Sverige’s key refrigerated freight corridors. The electric trucks will operate at up to 64 tonnes (about 70 tons) gross combined weight and support the movement of temperature-sensitive products between the two locations.
The deployment will use Einride’s platform, which combines electric trucks, its Saga AI optimization software, and charging infrastructure. Charging will take place at Scan Sverige’s Linköping facility, with additional charging available at Einride stations along the route. Vehicles will recharge during required driver rest periods to support daily operations.
According to the companies, replacing diesel-powered trucks on the route is expected to reduce emissions by approximately 860 tonnes (about 948 tons) of COâ‚‚ equivalent annually. The route represents about one-quarter of Scan Sverige’s refrigerated outbound freight volume from its Linköping distribution center.
