GlacierPoint acquires Arctica to expand frozen distribution across Florida
Key takeaways
- GlacierPoint acquired Arctica, adding more than 4,600 frozen product delivery locations in Florida.
- Arctica expands GlacierPoint’s direct store delivery (DSD) network into Central and South Florida.
- The acquisition strengthens GlacierPoint’s frozen distribution partnerships with major food brands.
GlacierPoint Enterprises recently acquired Arctica Frozen Solutions. The company, which distributes ice cream and other frozen products through a direct store delivery (DSD) network, adds Arctica’s operations in Central and South Florida to strengthen its presence in one of the country's largest frozen distribution markets.
Headquartered in Miami, Arctica serves more than 4,600 delivery points across convenience stores, drug stores, grocery retailers, and value retailers throughout Central and South Florida. The company distributes ice cream, novelties, and frozen products for manufacturers including The Magnum Ice Cream Company, Froneri, and Mars.
The acquisition expands GlacierPoint’s relationships with those suppliers while extending its operating footprint to more than 273,000 square miles. Company officials said Florida’s year-round demand for frozen products makes the market an important area for future growth.
“Arctica is the ideal entry point into Florida, one of the largest frozen markets in the country and a natural next step in GlacierPoint’s continuing expansion strategy for the Eastern Seaboard and beyond,” said Jim Schubauer, CEO and executive chairman of GlacierPoint.
Schubauer said that Todd Michaels, founder and CEO of Artica, "has built a solid business with deep customer relationships and a first-class service reputation. Combining that platform with GlacierPoint’s scale, vendor partnerships and operational expertise gives us a strong foundation to grow throughout all of Florida’s key markets.”
What this means for the trucking industry
The acquisition expands GlacierPoint’s refrigerated distribution footprint into a major food delivery market, increasing the scale of its direct store delivery operations. For fleets supporting frozen food distribution, larger regional networks can create opportunities to improve delivery density, strengthen supplier relationships, and support growing demand for temperature-controlled transportation across Florida.
