Frederick W Smith, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of FedEx Corporation, will address a National Press Club luncheon February 23 in a speech titled, "Confronting the Energy Threat: Electrification of Transportation as the Path Toward a Stronger Economy and Enhanced National Security."

He is also co-chairman of the Energy Security Leadership Council. This organization brings together some of America’s most prominent business and military leaders to support a comprehensive long-term policy to reduce U.S. oil dependence and improve energy security.

Calling energy security one of the nation’s greatest challenges, Smith will discuss the relationship between volatile energy prices and the U.S. economic downturn. He will also address a new study that forecasts the long-term economic impact of policies proposed by the council to increase energy security.
