JBS Carriers receives second SmartWay award
JBS Carriers was recently honored with a second consecutive SmartWay Excellence Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency for its industry leadership in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency.
The transportation arm of JBS USA and a leading producer of beef, pork, poultry, and lamb products, JBS Carriers has made a commitment to improve the efficiency of its fleet and reduce its impact on the environment. It is doing so through fuel-saving, environmentally friendly technologies such as auxiliary power units (APUs), trailer skirts, trailer tails, and high-performance tires.
JBS Carriers was one of 55 companies—and one of only four refrigerated carriers—to receive this distinction, out of SmartWay’s 3,000-plus partners. Award recipients are recognized for being high-performing partners that are leading the business community to a clean, efficient, and more sustainable future for transporting goods. The award winners were honored at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals annual conference in Denver CO recently.
“EPA is pleased to recognize the 2013 SmartWay Excellence Award recipients,” said Gina McCarthy, EPA administrator. “I commend JBS Carriers for its superior environmental performance and leadership in advancing freight sector efficiency. Their commitment is helping lead the freight industry to a more sustainable future.”
