Psion Teklogix, KonaWare Inc. and Accord Software have joined forces to develop a wireless fleet management system for LTL carriers. The new system is intended for small- and medium-size operations looking to move from paper-based reporting. It will allow drivers to view delivery and pick-up information on handheld devices and dispatchers to determine efficient routes in real-time while integrating with a full range of back office applications.

The mobile hardware for the system is Psion Teklogix' netpad touch-screen onboard computer and its entry-level handheld unit, the Workabout Pro. KonaWare is contributing its transportation suite, which is designed to pass data between drivers and back-office systems over any type of wireless local or wide area network. Accord's Centerline suite offers a full menu of LTL management modules for handling dispatch, order entry, rating, invoicing, document imaging and other functions.
