BigRoad updates ELD app for restart rollback

Dec. 19, 2014
BigRoad announced today that its electronic driver log (EDL) app-based solution has been updated in response to the Hours of Service (HOS) restart rollback already in effect.

BigRoad announced today that its app-based electronic logging device (ELD)  has been updated in response to the Hours of Service (HOS) restart rollback already in effect.

Per the company, when a user updates the latest version of BigRoad for Android,  “the rule change will be applied retroactively so that any resets started on Dec. 17th or later will use the simplified rule.”

BigRoad also stated that the Apple iOS version of its EDL app is “ready to go but [its release] could get held up in the rush before Apple’s scheduled iTunes shutdown Dec 22-29.”

“The BigRoad app is available on open platforms, including Android, iPhone and iPad, which allows us to instantly respond to changes in regulations and guidance, which is a huge advantage for drivers and fleets using our ELD,” , BigRoad COO Terry Frey told FleetOwner.

“As soon as we learned of the proposed changes to be included in the December 10th spending bill, we immediately updated our BigRoad app,” he added. “But we waited until the bill was signed into law to release it, to ensure none of our users experienced issues at roadside.”

The company pointed out that nearly 200,000 drivers have downloaded BigRoad on Google Play and Apple App Stores and 1,100 fleets are “actively using BigRoad’s ELDs logs to manage their fleet every day.”

Its EDL app is free for drivers, BigRoad noted, while its web-based solution for fleets is available for $15 per user/month.
