To help fleets maintain compliance under the electronic logging device (ELD) mandate, J. J. Keller & Associates announced it has expanded the number of Hours of Service rule sets in its J. J. Keller Mobile logging app — part of the company’s Encompass ELog system.
These new rule sets include the California Intrastate, Alaska Intrastate, and U.S. Motion Picture Industry rule sets, the company said. Other state- and industry-specific rule sets already offered by the J. J. Keller ELog system include U.S. Oil Field, Texas Oil Field, Canadian, Federal, and more. Exempt Logs (100- and 150-air-mile exceptions) are also supported by the system. J. J. Keller said it is in the process of adding the Wisconsin Intrastate rule set to its ELog system in the coming months.
“Some ELD providers have developed rule sets in response to the specific operational Hours of Service needs of certain segments of the industry,” said Tom Bray, senior transportation editor. “Consequently, an ELog system with a wide range of rule sets gives fleets the flexibility to use that system when their drivers are operating under one of the unique Hours of Service exceptions or other intrastate rules. Using the correct rule set not only provides fleets with accurate automated log auditing, protecting drivers from false violations, it also helps them maximize on-duty hours and improve efficiency.”
