    SmartTire Systems Inc. has signed an agreement with Vansco Electronics Ltd. to jointly develop an tire-pressure monitoring system that can operate over a truck's data bus or control area network (CAN). The two partners will develop a pressure system that can be integrated with existing vehicle displays tied to the data bus.

    The Speed Track II from Matco Industries is a self-contained device for tracking, locating and monitoring drivers and vehicles or cargo containers. The unit also provides two-way communications over cellular networks. www.matcoindustries.com

    The makers of Duck Tape, Henkel Consumer Adhesives has announced that it will adopt an RFID system for its retail distribution supply chain. The system will be developed and installed by Manhattan Associates Inc.

    Providing contract maintenance services for electric utility, telecommunications and tree care field service fleets, Altec Equipement Solutions has moved its fleet management record-keeping to RoadBase, a Windows-based application from Chevin Fleet Solutions. Chevin says the Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority and the Univ. of British Columbia have also agreed to adopt the fleet system.

    Crete Carrier Corp. has implemented the ProMiles Fuel Management system to optimize fuel purchases for its 5,400 tractor fleet. The application allows users to create their own networks of fuel providers based on up-to-date wholesale pricing data from OPIS.

    TL carrier Covenant Transport is moving to an integrated decision support system that combines fuel optimization and route-delay alerts with real-time graphical views of fleet activities. Supplied by developer Integrated Decision Support Corp., the new software includes Expert Fuel, OOR/ETA Alert and Netgraf. Covenant operates 3,800 tractors, 7,000 dry vans and 800 refrigerated trailers.

    Bosselman Travel Centers has added Transflo Express trip document delivery service to six of its Midwest locations. The scanning service from Pegasus TransTech will be offered in addition to the travel centers' drop-box services for envelope-based document delivery.
