Fiscal 4Q sales improve at Sanderson Farms

Sanderson Farms Inc has reported results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended Oct 31, 2006.

Net sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2006 were $291.7 million, compared with $262.5 million for the same period a year ago. For the quarter, the Laurel MS-based chicken company reported net income of $10.5 million, versus $10.1 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005.

For fiscal 2006, net sales totaled $1.048 billion compared with $1.053 billion for fiscal 2005. The net loss for the year totaled $11.50 million, in contrast to net income of $70.6 million for the year before.
