Honor Foods expands to Orlando
Foodservice redistributor Honor Foods is expanding in the Southeast with the addition of a new distribution center in Kissimmee, Florida.
The state-of-the-art facility will serve as the Honor Foods distribution center for the Southeast and the new home for all Sunny Morning Orlando operations, the company reported.
“Our new distribution center in Kissimmee, Florida, is a testament to our dedication to the growth of Honor Foods and our redistribution capabilities,” Donnie Burris, Burris Logistics president and CEO, said in a news release. “This new building will allow Honor Foods to expand services in the Southeast, building on our company’s century-long commitment to improving supply chains and providing outstanding customer service.”
Honor Foods first entered the Southeast market in June 2023 with the acquisition of Sunny Morning, a foodservice redistributor with strong dairy expertise. Now combined, Honor Foods with Sunny Morning has over 100 years of dairy experience. The addition of this new facility enables Honor Foods to grow its capabilities in the Southeast region by operating as an additional Honor Foods distribution center, increasing reach for current Honor Foods customers, and expanding the product portfolio available for Sunny Morning customers, the company said.
The new Honor Foods Orlando distribution center, located at 1700 Avenue B, will service customers’ growing redistribution needs across Florida, the broader Southeast, Latin America, and the Caribbean. It will also provide 3PL services to meet the needs of the rapidly growing Central Florida marketplace. The Honor Foods Orlando distribution center features:
- 156,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space
- 32 loading docks
- Frozen, refrigerated, and dry temperature zones
- Cross-docking capabilities
- Palletizing and case-level handling
- Container palletizing and handling
With the addition of Honor Foods Orlando, customers can also expect to see an expanded service area, faster delivery time, and enhanced logistical support. The facility’s strategic location and large warehouse capacity allow for shorter lead times across the Southeast. Customers will benefit from lower minimum order quantities, making it easier for smaller distributors and operators to access high-demand products without overextending their storage capacity or inventory. Three-temperature delivery trucks will help ensure product integrity and flexibility across dry, refrigerated, and frozen categories.
The opening of the Orlando distribution center also is expected to continue fueling job creation across a wide range of functions, including transportation, logistics, warehousing, sales, purchasing, administration, IT, and more, Honor Foods added. Opening with over 20 new jobs in Kissimmee, the company plans to create an additional 20 new jobs within the first year and expects to create nearly 100 positions when the building is fully utilized.
“Incorporating Sunny Morning into the Honor Foods Team built on our deep dairy category expertise, and we were running tight on capacity in the Florida marketplace,” said J.D. Spangler, Honor Foods president. “We are thrilled to open this new facility to better serve our Sunny Morning customers and many long-standing customers served out of Philadelphia.
“This is a big win for all of our customers and our team members.”
