Americold expands PLUS cold chain operations to improve frozen food distribution

Americold has expanded its relationship with PLUS to support the supermarket cooperative’s transition to a centralized frozen logistics operation across the Netherlands. The company, which provides temperature-controlled logistics, real estate, and value-added services, will manage storage, handling, and distribution for PLUS’s frozen product assortment through its Barneveld distribution center.

The agreement supports PLUS’s strategy to consolidate frozen operations into a single cold chain network serving approximately 440 stores nationwide. The phased transition is designed to improve efficiency, strengthen service levels, and provide more consistent supply chain execution across the retailer’s supermarket network.

Americold’s Barneveld facility supports multi-temperature retail distribution and will provide PLUS with temperature-controlled storage, inventory management, and order fulfillment services. The company said the operation is intended to support product integrity and reliable distribution from suppliers to stores.
