Sunswap launches Australian expansion to support zero-emission transport refrigeration
Key takeaways
- Sunswap enters the Australian market, offering electric refrigeration solutions for fleets through Protran Solutions.
- Endurance units cut operating costs up to 81% while providing reliable frozen-to-ambient temperature control.
- Trailer-top solar and battery power reduce charging needs and simplify maintenance for commercial transport operators.
Sunswap recently entered the Australian market through a partnership with Protran Solutions. The company, which manufactures battery- and solar-powered Endurance transport refrigeration units, has now expanded into its sixth international market. The expansion follows Sunswap’s growth in the U.K., Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Chile, where Endurance units operate for major retailers and logistics operators.
Electric refrigeration offers up to an 81% reduction in operating costs while eliminating maintenance complexity. Endurance units provide 24 hours of frozen operation from a single charge, with trailer-top solar extending range and reducing charging needs. They handle temperatures from -25 degrees Celcius (-13 degrees Fahrenheit) frozen to ambient control across demanding commercial routes. Protran Solutions provides local sales, service, and technical support to ensure reliable operations in Australia.
“Operators are choosing Endurance because it handles demanding operations better than diesel while cutting costs dramatically,” Michael Lowe, CEO of Sunswap, stated. “The environmental benefit is the outcome, not the compromise. That's what's driving adoption globally—fleets get better performance, lower costs, and zero emissions. The partnership with Protran brings that to Australian operators.”
