Havi Group deploys Vector eCool trailers to advance cold chain electrification
Key takeaways
- Havi deploys Vector eCool trailers, advancing fully electric refrigeration in cold chain trucking.
- The all-electric systems maintain continuous refrigeration, cutting emissions, noise, and maintenance needs.
- Collaboration with Carrier Transicold and Addvolt enabled scalable electrification for temperature-sensitive freight.
Havi Group recently deployed its first two Vector eCool-equipped trailers in Portugal, marking a step toward electrifying its cold chain operations. The company, which provides supply chain solutions for the food service industry, is using the all-electric refrigeration systems to transport temperature-sensitive goods between logistics centers and client restaurants.
The company, which worked with Carrier Transicold, Addvolt, and SAF-Holland, adds trailers equipped with fully electric, autonomous refrigeration systems that eliminate the need for a diesel engine. The Vector eCool combines an all-electric refrigeration system with energy regeneration during movement and energy storage, ensuring continuous refrigeration even when the vehicle is stationary or disconnected from the power grid. Havi Portugal anticipates increased operational efficiency, reduced maintenance needs, and a significant decrease in emissions and noise.
“The delivery of the first two Vector eCool systems to the Havi Group’s fleet marks a decisive step in the electrification of our cold chain, validated by a successful pilot in Portugal and now scalable across the group,” Carlos Santos, operations director, Havi Portugal, said. “It is particularly rewarding to finally see a refrigeration unit operating without a factory-installed diesel engine, proving that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand.”
