Workhorse expands beyond electric trucks with mobile AI data center plans

Workhorse Group recently revealed plans to enter the mobile AI data center category with a turnkey, containerized product designed for distributed AI infrastructure applications. The company intends to leverage its engineering, manufacturing, testing, and supply-chain capabilities at its Union City, Indiana, facility to develop the new product line.

“We believe this expansion into a new, growing segment is a strategic step that builds on the broader capabilities we now have as a result of the merger late last year, and it supports our expanded company vision to build the ‘new’ Workhorse as an industrial technology company,” said Scott Griffith, CEO of Workhorse. “Workhorse already builds highly reliable mobile platforms: electric medium-duty commercial vehicles manufactured at our commercial-scale plant in Union City, Indiana.”

The initial mobile AI data center design is expected to include cooling systems, power backup, security features, and multiple external power options. Oklahoma DOT selects Quarterhill for $5.25 million freight screening project

Quarterhill recently was awarded a $5.25 million contract from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to deploy commercial vehicle screening technologies at an Interstate 35 weigh station. The project will include mainline and ramp sorter systems, weigh-in-motion, electronic screening, TACS technology, and dimensioning capabilities to improve freight operations and safety.

"The project is representative of ODOT's continued investment in modernizing critical transportation infrastructure and the agency's confidence in our technology and expertise as a longstanding ITS partner," said Chuck Myers, CEO of Quarterhill. "This contract advances the work we're already doing with ODOT to improve safety and keep Oklahoma's freight moving efficiently. We're confident this project will not only enhance ODOT's operational performance in the near-term but prepare its critical transportation infrastructure for growing commercial vehicle demand."
