Here is a look at what is happening in the world of transportation this morning:

• An Illinois board nixed a proposed truck terminal at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Gougar Road in New Lenox Township, the Chicago Tribune reported. The board, along with various community groups, cited safety as their main concern, according to the Tribune.

• The North Carolina General Assembly is reviewing multiple bills of interest to truck drivers, according to Land Line Magazine. The bills address issues such as worker’s compensation, passing in no-pass zones, and left-lane use, according to the report.

• Nissan is expanding its airbag recall after a woman in Louisiana was injured by shrapnel from an exploding airbag, the Ledger reported. According to the report, over 17 million cars and trucks in the U.S. and 22 million worldwide were recalled due to faulty airbags.

• Ford’s latest F-150 pickup, set to launch this year, has been awarded five stars by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – making it one of the safest F-150 trucks, according to Tech News Today.  

• Public provides input on Sioux Falls long-range transportation plan, and some expressed concerns about transportation for the trucking industry, according to KDLT News.
