• Sargento workers make some real cheddar

Whether it’s paying off an education, home, or vehicle loan, a group of nearly 100 Sargento cheese plant employees will soon have the money to do just that.

Whether it’s paying off an education, home, or vehicle loan, a group of nearly 100 Sargento cheese plant employees will soon have the money to do just that.

That’s because a collection of workers at the cheese producer's Plymouth WI plant hold the winning ticket from the $208.6 million Wisconsin Powerball drawing August 5—the largest jackpot in the state’s history. The ticket was sold at the Ma and Pa’s Grocery Express along the so-called “Miracle Mile” in Fond du Lac WI.

South Main Street in Fond du Lac earned the “Miracle Mile” name because several stores along the strip sold multimillion-dollar tickets in the 1990s. Ma and Pa’s Grocery Express also sold a winning Megabucks ticket worth $6.5 million in 1994, and has been the home of $500,000, $250,000, and $100,000 jackpots.
