KLLM helps keep Stewpot simmering
Since 1998, KLLM Transport Services has sponsored a Christmas party for children in the after-school program at Stewpot Community Center in Jackson MS. This year’s party will be held December 11. Stewpot assists families in financial need by providing after-school facilities and activities.
Santa Claus will arrive in his KLLM truck driven by Rudolph to provide the children with a Christmas party that will include a decorated room, food, and a present from Santa. In addition, toys from the children’s wish lists, socks, underwear, and T-shirts will be given by KLLM to Stewpot. Those items are then picked up by the children’s parents and given to the children on Christmas morning. KLLM also stuffs bags with small gifts for the teen-agers in the teen after-school program. This year, 55 children and 42 teen-agers are being assisted by the program.
All KLLM employees have the opportunity to select a child from Stewpot for whom they may purchase gifts or donate money to the KLLM Benevolence Action team, which will then purchase the gifts.
This year’s KLLM Stewpot Team is led by:
•Santa: Redwood Franklin
•Rudolph: Willie Taylor
•Benevolence Action Team: Jackie Cooper, Barbara Lambert, Tammie McCue, Kathy Stacy, and Steve Szabo.
